Ramble from Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve

The other half was driving from Southport towards Preston one day. As I sat in the passenger seat looking out at the scenery, I noticed a sign for the Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve. I've been down this road numerous times in the past and never once noticed this sign. Searching Google for information on the reserve, I found a walk with simple directions supplied by South Ribble Borough Council.

Historical Churchtown Constitutional

Churchtown is a small town, part of Southport in Merseyside. This walk takes us through the heart of the little town and starts at the junction of Radnor Drive and Knob Hall Lane. Postcode PR9 9QS. On street parking available. The walk is a little under 4 miles and is over pavements. Suitable for dogs, though they should be kept on a lead.

Port Sunlight Pootle

We visited the picturesque village of Port Sunlight on a bright, warm day. Soaking in the peace, architecture and history of this little haven situated on the Wirral in the North West. Taking the train from Southport to Liverpool Central on the Northern Line, changing at Central to the Wirral Line to a train heading for Ellesmere Port stopping at Port Sunlight station on the way, couldn't of been easier.  There are steps to the platforms at Port Sunlight train station. The village can also be accessed by car with free parking outside the Lady Lever Art Gallery.

Ainsdale Sand Dunes National Nature Reserve Amble

This walk takes you from the Coastal Road in Ainsdale to Freshfield train station and back again on the same path. The walk is approximately  6 miles and will take between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours depending on your walking pace. It's an easy walk, suitable for dogs.

Marshside RSPB Ramble

This is approximately a 4 mile circular walk which will take roughly between an hour to an hour and a half to complete. It will take you past part of the Marshside RSPB reserve which is situated in Southport, a few miles from the town centre. It's an easy walk and suitable for dogs.
